Actually, I do make fun of traditional Chinese medicine. Other than a handful of herbal medicines, it's based on prescientific religious beliefs and uses physiologically ridiculous diagnostic modalities like tongue and pulse diagnosis.

When you boil it all down, the five elements of traditional Chinese medicine are nothing more than Asian variants of the the four humors. We have no problem mocking humoral "theory," and I have no problem mocking the five elements as nothing more than more of the same.
