I hope I'm wrong, but the big tell here is how Amash just couldn't resist some false equivalence by bringing up @TheDemocrats and Bill Clinton. Then, nowhere did he explicitly state explicitly that he would support starting impeachment proceedings.

So what am I to think? He's stated that
@realDonaldTrump committed impeachable offenses. That's good. He didn't say what should be done about it. That's not so good.Show this thread

Carefully worded to straddle both sides of the fence? He is a politician. He could be saying nothing.

You're not wrong. He definitely did not come out and say it.

And I’m not going to fault him for that. He’s done his hmework, remembered his Oath of Office, and thrown down the gauntlet, which is more than any other Republican, and many Democrats have done.

But he didn't come out and say that the President should be impeached and engaged in some blatant "bothsidesism" about
@TheDemocrats and Bill Clinton. - Show replies

THOUGH THERE IS IN FACT NO SUCH CATEGORY AS "IMPEACHABLE OFFENSES". CONGRESS CAN IMPEACH A PRESIDENT FOR ANY REASON, NO REASON, OR BAD REASON. ANDREW JOHNSON WAS IMPEACHED FOR (CORRECTLY) REFUSING TO ENFORCE AN UNCONSTITUTIONAL LAW. IMPEACHMENT IS NAKEDLY POLITICAL, NOT LEGAL.

Impeachable offenses are whatever Congress says they are.
