        It would be more accurate, and more helpful, to state that the blind application of religious dogma contrary to evidence causes great harm.

        Have you read Hitchens' "God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything"? He addressed religious opposition to vaccines. I believe the example given was Muslim opposition to the Sabine polio vaccine, but it may have included some discussion of ultra-Orthodox Judaism.

        I'm familiar with both cases. In both cases it was more of an issue of conspiracy theories about outsiders than religion per se, IIRC.
