I'm lucky that in my specialty (breast cancer surgery) this isn't something I have to do very often. There is a simple fix to this that insurance co. would fight to the death.Make insurance co. “peers” liable for malpractice in the same way the patient’s physician is.If a “peer” denies an authorization req. by the doc who actually examined the pt.,isn’t that practicing medicine?
