It was a successful strategy for antivaxers, as long as vaccination rates stayed high enough to maintain herd immunity, which is why Dr. Bob always told nonvaccinating parents not to tell any of their friends or family, as that might encourage them not to vaccinate either. 2/

Of course, this strategy of prioritizing one's child over all else breaks down when vaccination rates fall enough to start eroding herd immunity, which is what is happening in many areas right now. 3/3
