The average adult in the USA spends $1,497 a month on nonessential items. All told, that's roughly $18,000 a year on things we can all do without. http://bit.ly/2vIbNZZ  pic.twitter.com/bpgVj94SaM

Holy crap! It's literally a life insurance ad being published by @USATODAY, as was pointed out elsewhere! https://www.swnsdigital.com/2019/05/americans-spend-at-least-18000-a-year-on-these-non-essential-costs/ …

Not sure whether to be annoyed that they only asked hipsters or that they are implying you could go without food and drink.

Most people I know don't come even close to these expenditures. And the fact they pulled what is essentially an ad is just idiotic.

Love that they include transportation, grooming, and eating lunch. So I guess you're supposed to go to work scuffy, unkempt, smelly from walking to work, and starve the entire day until you get home. And god forbid if after a rough day you want some resteraunt food.

But it's good for The Economy. All spending, no matter how unnecessary & wasteful of resources, is good because it boosts GDP, which is what we worship above all other gods. All the better if it's taxed; gotta keep our military strong to protect even more resources we can waste.
