So you don't have any hard evidence that the cause of Medicare costing more than projected is waste and fraud. To you it can't possibly be expansion of benefit and the aging of the population. Your argument is incredibly weak if you can't provide any hard evidence.https://twitter.com/AlietaEck/status/1121094624712495105 …

The hard evidence is that Medicare costs WAY more than projected. When Medicare Part A was enacted in 1965, it was projected to cost $9 billion by 1990. Instead, the cost was $67 billion. Why do you think that is? Gov't replaces competition with monopoly & bureaucracy. https://twitter.com/gorskon/status/1121059331951202305 …

Also, literally every developed nation other than the US has some form of socialized medicine model and all of us achieve better health outcomes on average with significantly less money than the US does.

Case in point: Canada does better than the US on maternal fatality, infant mortality, lifespan, etc. We spend less than half what the US does per capita.

Here are $1.2 Billion (with a B) anecdotes. Just 24 masterminds on telephones pulled this one off. https://www.npr.org/2019/04/10/711688988/feds-charge-24-in-alleged-1-2-billion-medicare-fraud-scheme … Lots of estimates on total fraud amount but hard to measure. This alone isn’t a reason to expand or not, but fraud isn’t rounding error.

Good review of scope of this: https://www.economist.com/united-states/2014/05/31/the-272-billion-swindle … I think bigger issue is that MC pays for tons more of unnecessary care (not backed by science or evidence). This isn’t fraud per se, but a piggy bank for unscrupulous providers.

Rick Scott's company took a HUGE chunk home with them. Then we elected him governor. Because we care so much about fiscal responsibility. @FloridaGOP @GovRonDeSantis Right guys?
