This is how the Washington bureau chief at @thedailybeast contemptuously dismisses my criticism of an article she wrote about antivaxer Del Bigtree. That's the easy way to dismiss valid criticism, just characterize it as "yelling on Twitter." 1/https://twitter.com/JFKucinich/status/1116789002135396353 …

Perhaps I was a bit harsh, but, rereading
@JFKucinich's@thedailybeast article about@delbigtree, I don't think I was unduly harsh. Here's a link to the article again. Read. 3/https://www.thedailybeast.com/anti-vaxxer-del-bigtree-got-his-start-on-the-tv-show-the-doctors …Show this thread -
And here's my Tweetstorm about it. I'll leave readers to judge if I was too harsh. I've got nothing to hide. I've been at this for a long time. 4/https://twitter.com/gorskon/status/1116787088781926400 …

The bottom line is that antivaxers thrive on articles like this. They love them. The overall tone of the article borders on admiring, even with the refutations included. 5/

Particularly annoying is the way that
@delbigtree's denial that he is antivaccine and his dismissal of the term as "made up by the pharmaceutical industry to discredit skeptics like him" go completely unchallenged. Whoa. 6/Show this thread -
Here's a hint: Antivaxers ALWAYS deny that they are antivaccine, with very rare exceptions. Famous antivaxers NEVER admit to being antivaccine. Smoking them out is easy. 7/

All one has to do is to ask the antivaxer which specific vaccines he considers to be safe and effective. MMR? DTaP? Varicella? HPV? Antivaxers will either deny most or all age safe and effective of they will hem and haw. Either way, they reveal themselves as antivaccine. 8/
