Your opinion, however educated, does not weigh more than the lived experiences of others. If you don’t believe me, then it’s clear you have yet to experience much, regardless of your level of education. And regardless of your opinion.

So are you saying that antivaxxers should be given more weigh than immunologists, scientists, and doctors? Because that is one way in which this tweet can be interpreted and which I would very much disagree.

That's how I interpreted it, too.

Idk why a pro vaccination stance is considered an opinion but go on, I’m here for it.

Antivaxxers would consider it to be an opinion & wd say that it’s outweighed by their anecdotal evidence (“lived experience of vaccine injuries”). I think the issue is that what you said sounded similar to things antivaxxers say, though you meant something totally different

I think the issue is that people didn’t read what I said, but saw it through the distorted lens of antivax propaganda, and that, my friends, is v disheartening. Vaccines save lives. It’s a fact, not an opinion.

Not exactly. The problem is that personal lived experience can, in some cases (e.g., antivaxers thinking that vaccines caused their children's autism or patients thinking quackery cured them), be very misleading. It was a legitimate point.

But my point isn’t legitimate? I mean, I vaccinated my children against my abusive husband’s wishes when I knew he would certainly hurt me if he found out. Demanding nuance from me while continuing to willfully misunderstand me looks bad.

I never said it wasn't legitimate. I was merely pointing out that the issue is complex. Just because I said that using antivaxers as a cautionary example was a legitimate point doesn't mean I said your point was not legitimate. Sheesh!
