As someone who is *not* super anti-Electoral College, I'm just going to repeat what I said earlier this week, which is that most people trying to defend the Electoral College would be better off saying nothing because their arguments have been really dumb. https://twitter.com/mattklewis/status/1109103900320251905 …

Exactly, Like somehow that's supposed to be an argument ender. And for some reason, these morons always think they're the first one who's used it.

The same kind of people who get wrapped around the axle telling you that “assault rifle” is a meaningless term and explaining why in exhausting detail

So people with logic and facts lol

Or the "Wisdom of the Founding Fathers" nonsense as if they were infallible (completely neglecting all the other times we've changed the constitution because they were not omniscient beings with perfect knowledge of the future).

If you feel the electoral college need to be reformed, how do you feel about the Senate? Should Vermont lose its Senate representation? At 630K, that is less than the average congressional district of 700K. Asking for a friend.

You forget Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, North Dakota

We are a republic Do we want to disband the senate too? It cools the coffee in the saucer - is this just because Hillary was unpopular in the upper Midwest & didn’t bother to go there?pic.twitter.com/L4VI4kX3ii

Obviously they're dumb or cynical, because it's perfectly easy to point out *monarchies* that are more democratic than us. But they're kind of right that our constitution is very anti-democratic, and that it was designed to be so.

Not sure how the EC is supposed to equalize big population states like CA with say, WY. CA had some 19 mil vote in 2018, WY had 140k. Making it 59 EV vs 3 doesn't fix that. It's not like CA gets to elect WY's governor, for example.
