Many children wouldn’t appreciate being forced to bear a higher than necessary risk of shingles as adults, in addition to the real risks of chicken pox. At least we now have an effective shingles vaccine to help them. I wondered if he understood he’s setting them to need it.

Technically speaking, that would make everyone in the UK and Ireland a child abuser. Not that I disagree that where the vaccine is available, this does border on abuse.

Chicken pox parties weren't uncommon pre vax. If it was in the community people just wanted to get it over with as soon as possible since it was virtually inevitable. It was also thought that the last ones to contract it would have a more serious case.

This is a very different pre and post vaccine. Intentionally exposing your child to a potentially fatal and now vaccine preventable infection is horrible.

If they suffer from painful shingles in old age, they can thank their Dad for this stupid stunt.
