If we want to end the opioid epidemic, we must work to address the root causes of abuse. That’s why @SenCoryGardner and I introduced legislation to limit opioid prescriptions for acute pain to 7 days. Because no one needs a month’s supply for a wisdom tooth extraction.

My money is on "Gillibrand and Booker were given a study paid for by the pharmaceutical industry that appeared to show this would reduce addiction, and didn't think to question it." This is why we can't elect people who get their information from industry lobbyists.

I doubt such a study exists. This seems more of an attempt to win quick political points for passing legislation supposedly addressing a hot button issue despite no evidence that such will be at all effective, and in fact, plenty of evidence to suggest that it won't.
