If we want to end the opioid epidemic, we must work to address the root causes of abuse. That’s why @SenCoryGardner and I introduced legislation to limit opioid prescriptions for acute pain to 7 days. Because no one needs a month’s supply for a wisdom tooth extraction.

So she is talking about acute pain vs chronic pain. One week is reasonable and then the patient has a follow up to reassess the injury; the provider and patient go from there. The idea is to not have acute injuries turn into chronic pain syndrome. That’s my understanding.
