If we want to end the opioid epidemic, we must work to address the root causes of abuse. That’s why @SenCoryGardner and I introduced legislation to limit opioid prescriptions for acute pain to 7 days. Because no one needs a month’s supply for a wisdom tooth extraction.

Pediatric Critical Care doc here......an idea that will result in a) increased suicides & b) increased street heroin use & c) increased use of dangerous, cheap synthetics & d) increased use of sexual trafficking & pimping of women & LGBTQ populations via opiate control.

Thank you, Doctors, for speaking out on this. I had Tram flap reconstruction after failed implant reconstruction due to a double mastectomy from breast cancer. I was in indescribable pain from my abdominal incisions and loss of lower core muscles. The pain lasted for 3 weeks. 1.

This is cruel. Every prescription should be treated per-case and situation and not a blanket “7 day cap”. Had I not been given my 30 days supply, who knows that I would have had to resort to for pain management.

Wish I could find you, Dr. Gorski, or a surgeon like you if I get cancer. But as a chronic pain patient who's been tortured now for 3 years, I've made the decision never to have surgery again, even if it costs me my life.
