Not surprisingly former President of the a medical John Birch Society disguised as a medical professional society that is antivax, @AAPSonline, chimes in approvingly. 2/https://twitter.com/alietaeck/status/1104374282497548288 …

I had to put up with the same BS in Michigan from the
@MichStateMedSoc five years ago when a similar bill was being considered in Michigan. MSMS ran trucks with billboards by the state capital and lobbied legislators heavily, urging it's members to call/write our legislators. 3/Show this thread -
When various naturopathic licensing bills or other bills to license quackery have come up since then...crickets. No email bursts from
@MichStateMedSoc to its members. No lobbying legislators. I don't even recall whether MSMS even testified when the bills were in committee. 4/Show this thread -
Anyway,
@MichStateMedSoc's activity then inspired me to write this, and the reappearance of the same turf protection tropes today inspired me to repost it. It's sad to see that little or nothing has changed in five years. 5/5https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/expanding-the-scope-of-practice-of-advanced-practice-nurses-does-not-endanger-patients/ …Show this thread

As a PMHNP I appreciate your support. We both want optimal outcomes for patients.

Gotta disagree with you on this one. Canadian family doc here and this is not “turf protection”. An NP is not equivalent training to GP/FP and in Canada at least, they cost the system more. I can see a role in specialist type clinic support, but they are not qualified as PCP

#powerofthepussy is real and you have let it cloud your judgement doctor https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/expanding-the-scope-of-practice-of-advanced-practice-nurses-does-not-endanger-patients/ …pic.twitter.com/nTQG6PHdXq

The key is you "worked with" NPs. What we object to is NPs presenting themselves as "doctor" as setting up their own independent practices. When you or your family members get sick, do you consult a doctor or a nurse? I am amazed that you cannot cede the scope of education point

Easy question, man. You are in a car wreck, completely incapacitated, bleeding out. Who do you want to see you? I’m board certified emergency medicine for 10 years. I’ve been to two war zones.

The NP awaiting your arrival graduated near the bottom of his LPN class. Online RN, worked part time in a nursing home while getting her on line FNP. Has spent a year or two single level 4-5 in the fast track. I’m in one trauma bay, he’s the other. Hurry. Pick. Oh, you can’t.
