That's because harassment of critics, particularly if they're women or poc, is a feature, not a bug, of how they deal with criticism. The intent is to silence or punish. 2/

Second, they WILL try to harass you at work by complaining to your boss. If you're in academia, as I am, that's usually just a nuisance given the ethos of academic freedom at universities, but if you work for a private company you could face pressure to shut up or b e fired. 5b/5

Finally, if you work for a state university or the federal government, you risk harassment by FOIA. They'll try to get your emails, your salary info, etc., basically anything subject to FOIA. I know several skeptics who've suffered this. 5c/5
