I bet she can't tell me the names of the active surveillance systems for adverse reactions to vaccines. (Yes, there are more than one.)

Let's just say that VAERS is most definitely NOT "all we have." Dr. Orient, you're really not very good at this. You don't even know the basics. It's cringeworthy to watch, and you should be embarrassed.

well there's the VSD, where the Geiers were "data-dredging" per your orac blog. It's now looking at rotavirus and HPV. Access limited, unlike VAERS, Let's all just trust our FDA and CDC, but not our patients or researchers with different conclusions

Actually, the Geiers dumpster dived in the VAERS database. You've forgotten? They published at least some of their crappy science in JPANDS; for example:https://respectfulinsolence.com/2006/03/06/the-geiers-go-dumpsterdiving-y-1/ …

Of course, I'm not the only one who's commented in the Geiers' proclivity for dumpster-diving in the VAERS database. https://photoninthedarkness.blogspot.com/2005/07/dumpster-diving-republished.html?m=1 …

Of course, Mark and David Geier were the ones who developed the quackery claiming that chelation therapy and chemical castration could cure autism.https://respectfulinsolence.com/2006/02/23/why-not-just-castrate-them-1/ …

In addition, the Geiers were known for playing fast and loose with the rules governing human subjects research, in particular using a dubious IRB affiliated with their own "institute." https://respectfulinsolence.com/2006/06/12/mercury-and-autism-well-look-a/ …

Now, it is true that the Geiers did at least one study using the Vaccine Safety Datalink. Let's just say that their VSD study was of the same quality as their VAERS studies: Awful.https://respectfulinsolence.com/2008/05/22/a-new-blog-takes-on-the-latest-geier-crapfest/ …

As for access to the VSD being limited, it's not, really. Any scientist can get access if he has an IRB-approved protocol. What the Geiers did was to try to merge two data files from the VSD in a manner that compromised patient confidentiality. https://www.casewatch.net/fdawarning/rsch/geier.shtml …
