Null now claims that 987,507 deaths/year are due to iatrogenesis and medical errors, more than any other cause, including heart disease and cancer. One can almost feel him mightily trying to get the number of doctor kills up to a round one million but just barely failing!

To put that number in perspective, there were only 2,744,248 deaths in the US in 2016 according to the CDC, of which approximately 750,000 occur in hospitals. 3/https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/deaths.htm …

That means that
@drgarynull is so innumerate as to think that he can blithely claim that 36% of ALL deaths each year in the US are due to medical error or iatrogenic causes, all without explaining how those deaths get reassigned from the previously attributed causes. 4/Show this thread -
I mean, how many years deaths from cancer (598,038/yr) actually due to "iatrogenesis" have to have been misattributed to contribute to 987,507 deaths? From heart disease (598,038/yr)? From accidents (161,374/yr), respiratory disease (154,596/yr), stroke (142,142/yr), etc.? 5/

For Null to be correct, a truly staggering number of kills by doctors have to be shifted from those other top causes of death in the statistics maintained by the CDC, in order for the known number of yearly deaths (2.7M) to remain constant. It's a zero sum game, after all. 6/

Methinks
@MarkHoofnagle would have a field day with@drgarynull's idiotic innumerate nonsense. 7/7Show this thread
