Bathroom Scale: You gained a pound. Me: What? But I've been exercising and calorie counting! Scale: Cool. You still gained a pound. Me: Well... maybe that's because fat is being replaced by denser lean muscle! Scale: Lol, sure, pal, let's go with that.

Exactly. Eat mostly healthy foods, and unhealthy foods only occasionally in moderation, get 30-60 min of out-of-breath physical activity every day, and ignore numbers. Just notice how awesome you feel--it's motivating!

Yep. This is the flaw in the average person taking daily weights.
-
Agreed. I try to force myself to stick to weighing in only once or twice a week. It's far less stressful. I've been eating fairly well so the losses have been slow but consistent.

Isn't anything at 2lb or below just noise? Is there a known threshold?
-
I'm here to argue that scales generate a lot of noise for adults. Most people know at least roughly what we need to do to have a healthy lifestyle--so we should do it, and disregard scales for the most part. Scales are for fish.

My weight can fluctuate by more than 10 lbs from day to day, depending on a workout, how much I ate and my hydration level, particularly after a 100+ mile intense ride. I will even lose 5+ lbs after a hard 2 hour workout on a trainer.

1500 ml of water is good for 3.3 lbs, according to my brother's dialysis people.
