Except that ancient remedies aren't yielding cutting edge cures. @NatGeo is just plain full of crap and publishing TCM propaganda, not science.https://respectfulinsolence.com/2019/01/07/traditional-chinese-medicine-is-science/ …

Again, some modern medical Rx is unsupported (see: Twitter of Dr. Vinay Prasad) and some-but-not-all ancient Rx, which may or may not work, is not understood.

Got your back here, Elaine! That accusation of ‘whataboutism’ is simply crass.https://twitter.com/davidcnorrismd/status/1061010275044741120 …

Crass or not, it's not inaccurate. Instead of rebutting my argument about TCM's lack of evidence, she countered, "What about conventional medicine's lack of evidence?" That's the very DEFINITION of whataboutism. I hadn't planned on saying any more, but you tweaked me.

Generally, the only non-bot follows I block on Twitter are those by the woo crowd—precisely out of concern they’ll read such tweets uncritically, and take them as encouragement. You may have more in common with them than you want to think, David, in light of your own misreading!

Here’s a bit of background on
#whataboutism, FYI, which might help you employ the term precisely and judiciously. A crucial concept which we ought not dilute by careless misuse! (Glad to engage and/or demolish you whenever, outside of Elaine’s mentions ;) https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Whataboutism …2 replies 1 retweet 3 likes -

Thanks for the condescending "warning." However, it is unnecessary. I've been at this two decades and am intimately familiar with every "game" there is with respect to CAM. You're not doing anything I haven't seen before more times than I can remember.

My favorite bit is that we can't walk and chew gum at the same time. ("Conventional medicine should clean up its act first before attacking CAM.") That is of course a recipe for inaction on CAM, because there will always be problems with medicine to fix. It'll never be perfect.
