I don’t think there is any quality evidence supporting chiropractic care for anything. Anyone have anything to add?https://twitter.com/picardonhealth/status/1096761833271320577 …

Even supporting evid for chiropractic not terribly convincing. Also, not just a few bad apples - as this commentary suggests. Marketing of totally unproven stuff common. Yes, I tweeted about this one earlier. And agree, this study worth considering. No sham comparator - so still have possible placebo theatre. Also, results not impressive. Do you build an entire profession around "moderate short-term improvements"?

In pharma we approve drugs all the time for short term improvements, some with potent toxicities. Opiates are a short term improvement and highly effective, but the side effects have been horrific. So I support the options that reduce chronic pain but avoid toxicities.

Right. Agree, obviously. But not my pt. Nurse practitioners, physios, MDs could provide SMT (if we buy the data saying it helps). Should we legitimize & support a controversial (& often science-free) profession in order to get these marginal gains? Science should no doubt be the baron of legitimacy. Dr Gunter asked for evidence and I gave some. I would argue more harmful products with less evidence and efficacy are often provided. Also rich that a pharmacist wrote that given the tripe many hock(albeit besides the point)

100% agree, we need good science everywhere. Of course, the fact that many practices lack good evidence is not a rationale for integrating more stuff that lacks good evidence. On the contrary, it is a reminder we need solid research & health assessment processes.

I wonder where he got the idea I was a pharmacist? I also wonder why it matters to him. His invoking my supposedly being a pharmacist is nothing more than an ad hominem, an attempt to discredit me by linking me to a profession he clearly doesn't think mix of.
