Interesting question: Why should respected researchers stay away from #antivax conferences?
My arguments failed to convince highly regarded vaccine-researcher @StabellBenn. Are there more persuasive arguments out there? @gorskon @DrPaulOffit @noelTbrewer @skepticalraptor https://twitter.com/StabellBenn/status/1097152885069172737 …

When people have firm moral or religious beliefs, it ends up being two sides stating platforms, and no persuasion happens. Much the same thing happens when scientists interact with the anti-vaccine activists. Instead, the activists believe only data supporting their positions.

You can’t debate a theory that is not falsifiable by evidence.

If you face vaccine deniers, learn and use this potent WHO tool. It’s excellent.

Thanks for sharing the WHO document, Noel!
That’s very interesting and I think that the general advices contained there go beyond anti-vax: the same guidelines can be used in debates with other kinds of science-deniers as well!
Thanks!!
