Dear Dr., I just realised the same just a couple of months ago. It hit me like a brick. I’m 61. White, middle class, heterosexual males can amble through their society with nary a concern.

And there's the common misconception that talking about the concept of "race" at all is racist. It is mostly based on the premise that anyone who talks about the concept can only refer to biological pseudo-scientific racism.

But it ignores that race blindness has no answer to how to deal with ongoing prejudices correlated with — and caused by — perceived race. While I agree that in an ideal world nobody would be prejudiced for their skin tone, race blindness nowadays does not contribute to that goal.
