Naturally, the same week we kick-start a nat’l convo on marginal tax rates endorsed by Nobel-Prize winning economists, I’m being described as “vacuous.” If you’re allowed to characterize female politicians as “unlikeable,” are we allowed to describe takes like these “resentful?”https://twitter.com/MaxBoot/status/1082596717445419010 …

Ocasio-Cortez reminds me of Sarah Palin, another talented young communicator who made a big splash in national politics before having her lack of knowledge painfully exposed. This is a cautionary tale for Ocasio-Cortez. My latest in @PostOpinions: https://wapo.st/2FfWBdD

You mean like in the 1950s, when the top marginal tax rate was higher than the 70% she proposed?🤦‍♂️

All post war presidents before Reagan had 70% or higher marginal tax rates.

I keep seeing this posted out of context as if it refutes anything. It refutes nothing because their effective tax rate was far, far less. The only economist who backed her is widely considered a clown nowadays. It has been ridiculed by every other economist.

And the effective rate of a marginal tax rate of 70% today would probably be even less than it was then, because most people who make over $10 million a year make most of their money through investments, not income. Just sayin'.😏

So, why have a 70% tax rate? Just asking…
