As a "Dr.," Bobby, I'm sure you're aware that you still need ethics board approval to conduct such an audit study if your primary data is from human subjects. I.e., you have to inform the IRB that you're not soliciting consent; that's what the ethics board would approve.

Also, "Dr." Bobby seems to be attacking a straw man. I said the case was not clear-cut, my point being that it is not unreasonable for the IRB at least to investigate and mocking the hoax defenders who leap to the conclusion that this is definitely IRB overreach.
