Or, the offense fetishists who promulgate this nonsense can be criticized for their preening display of sanctimony and the intellectual potlatch that they are celebrating, and we can move on from there.

This is the Joe Walsh who, after he was duped by Sacha Baron Cohen into revealing what he really thinks about guns, got on board with a "BoycottShowtime" hashtag? What happened to "No rules!"?

Funny how fast these "free speech über alles" types change their tune when they're on the receiving end of free speech they don't like. In fairness, though, I do seem to recall that Joe admitted pretty fast that he'd been fooled and even conceded that it was a "good one."

1. I think it's more than that, people like Joe think humor like CK's should be celebrated because of it's transgression. In their opinion, that's what makes it funny, the actual content is irrelevant. If you don't see the humor, you're the one with a problem or no sense of humor.

2. The idea that insulting people who live out their daily lives with insults and reminders of their marginalized status, isn't funny, just doesn't occur to them because they've never had to live that way. Go ahead and make your joke, just don't expect everyone to find it funny.
