Saying that fascism is strictly right or left is silly and facile. I am a liberal and I don't think it can only be the expression of the right-wing for a simple fact that none of the commenters are acknowledging: there have fascist and authoritarian regimes on both R & L.

Fascism is not the same as authoritarianism; it is a certain variant with characteristics that place it in the right wing spectrum. I really don't understand why this is so hard to grasp. Yes, there were authoritarian left wing regimes but they were not fascist.

Precisely. Goldberg conflates authoritarianism and fascism. Both are "collectivist," which to him means left wing. That's not how it works, though.
