Blows my mind every time Randi or one of his sycophants claims that scientists are basically rubbish without a magician at their side to detect cheating. Does it never occur to people that it seems a bit egotistical of a magician to claim magicians are the heroes of the story.

So at last you accept the reality of the paranormal thanks to Sheldrake, Radin, Schwartz, etc, etc. They can't be fooled or fool themselves.

Yep. Peer review is actually not very good at detecting systematic error that derives from scientists fooling themselves. It's even worse at detecting outright fraud. I wouldn't necessarily say a magician is needed to detect such things, but a skeptic is.

Anyone can be fooled - including me - and I have been. But show me someone who claims they can't be fooled and I will show you someone who can easily be fooled. Anyway, microbes and chemicals don't try to deceive the scientists studying them; people do.

This has literally nothing to with my original off-the-cuff tweet which was about magicians being egotistical, but thanks, I guess.

But it does have a lot to do with your second Tweet about per review, double blinding, etc.
