In some respects. The opening is certainly more intense and BAM not just zombies but FAST zombies. You have to acknowledge both are subtle jabs at the consumer world we live in. How do people adapt when all that's left of civilization is an abandoned Sbarro and Foot Locker?

It's not about the zombies but how humans try to cling to last vestiges of civilization when it's too late to save it. The zombie is simply the McGuffin - the Deus Ex Machina - that drives the last humans. "You're hypnotized by this place, you don't see that it's a prison too!"
