The reason for this is simple. Antivaxers have successfully conflated opposition to school vaccine mandates with "freedom," "parental rights," etc., thus drawing right wing support. This is particularly true in Texas, where Republicans who are too pro-vaccine have been primaried.

Antivaxers have also drawn in the anti-abortion movement with their claims that "fetal parts" and "fetal DNA" from aborted babies are in vaccines.
