After a hard day at work and to combat the nastiness in the world today, we can all use a video of puppies playing. These are the puppies we're fostering, and they're just shy of four weeks old. You're welcome.pic.twitter.com/JkRKfr20D9

She's there, just off camera and not in the pen. When the puppies reach this age, the mother doesn't stay with them constantly any more. There's no way my wife and I could bottle feed a bunch of puppies. We both have full time jobs.

Yes hard to imagine bottle feeding that group. And given their energy level, I can see why the mother needs a break.

The puppies are getting close to be ready to start weaning, a process that took about two or three weeks for our last litter. (Their teeth need to come in a bit before we can start.) When our last litter was weaning, Dora (their mother) started spending more time apart.
