Owning a firearm makes you more likely to die of gun violence. Access to firearm also shiwn to be more likely to commit suicide and more likely to be successful because it tends to be an impulsive act.

But more deeply, “it’s the people” is a fundamentally absurd argument that requires you to ignore everywhere else in the world. People are people. Americans are people like everywhere else, just with easier access to firearms. It’s an environmental variable, not a human one.
