I bet our President fell for a protester jokingly wondering where her Soros check is, the way antivaxers and quacks sometimes don't get the joke when I quip, "Where's my filthy lucre, big pharma paymasters?" That's why these days I usually add a crack about Lizard Overlords too.https://twitter.com/SenJeffMerkley/status/1049681442731642882 …

Scratch a Trumpist, and you'll almost always find antiscience of some sort, be it climate science denial, creationism, antivax, or other conspiracy theory.
-
The problem with equating anti-scientism and Trumpism, is that Trumpism is motivated by ideologies which have *also* motivated much science.

I tend to be too contrary, so my apologies if I am tending that direction in this discussion. You are absolutely right that antivaxism is extraordinarily problematic. However, antiscientism is not a simple, homogeneous category - because science-belief isn't either. As you know.

You're also kind of sucking the fun out of this whole thread. I was joking, and now everything's serious. Of course, it takes at least two to do that; so I'll take my lumps too.
