The claim you could reach tenure is the true bullshit here and a sign they have no familiarity with that demonic process.
Personally, I was wondering how Boghossian could still be an assistant professor. He's almost as old as I am, and I'm a professor who, admittedly, took several years longer than I should have to be promoted.
Yeah about that. As a new assistant professor trying to do basic science in surgery, you want to mentor me on a K? (Only half joking).
I'm always open to help, but I'm currently not funded and rapidly running low on my remaining institutional funds as I scramble to keep applying for grants.
It's the way things are, now, I'm afraid. Even some bigger names are having trouble. You need to be part of a team. Don't be a lone wolf. I did that for too long and now it's catching up with me.
I am, or we’re building one at least. I just feel like this country stopped investing in basic science at the exact wrong point in my career and it’s got me stressed. Pay lines are terrible.
Yes they are. I sometimes think that I was good enough for times early in my career, when pay lines were around the 15th percentile, but I'm not good enough for pay lines at the 8th or 9th percentile. Thinking of moving into quality.
Although with a real scientific head on your shoulders you’d do that bullshit field some real good.
