I have a question, why can’t we adopt the German model? I lived there for a bit and I found the healthcare to be excellent. I believe I paid 7.5% of my income and my employer paid 7.5%.

Obamacare is actually based on the German model. It just didn't go far enough in that German health insurance companies are much more heavily regulated than companies in the US. That was a problem with the ACA.
