This judgment against Monsanto is ridiculous. If you want to know why scientists and physicians have such contempt for the legal system when it adjudicates science, here's the latest textbook example, as bad as silicone breast implants in the 1990s.https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/jury-orders-monsanto-pay-290m-roundup-trial-n899811 …

What to do? Juries are fallible. Some people not that bright, get carried away by emotive arguments etc. Many other examples. e.g. the Bawa Garba manslaughter case. https://ripe-tomato.org/2018/02/08/dr-bawa-garba-and-nurse-amaro/ … Might appeal court overturn?

Media coverage of US product liability cases is notoriously unreliable. Key facts are not reported and final outcomes after judicial adjustment and appeals are rarely given equal prominence. Some good scholarship on the McDonald's coffee case.

Even if true, THIS case is obviously a travesty because the scientific preponderance of evidence is that there is no association between glysophate and cancer, much less this cancer.

Legal truth and scientific truth are not the same thing. I would not want to take a position on this case without knowing what evidence had been presented to the jury. Right now I am focused on a conference rather than developing an opinion.

And Polyethoxylated tallow amine (POEA), is that safe?
