        Whatever “socialism” exists in the world is possible because of capitalism: actual productive people creating something so the government can take it.         I think the problem lies in too many confuse socialism with a lack of capitalism. The French are very much a capitalist country with high tax structure to support strong social service structure. Part of disconnect is that when Europe was building their system,we spent our money

        providing the security from the very real threat of soviet aggression. The private sector stepped in and financed our healthcare system. The 4th amendment prevents the govt from seizing these assets w/o fair market reimbursement
