OK, I must admit, this whole "genetic immunity" and evolution claim is a bizarre antivax trope I don't recall having heard before. Clearly Laura knows nothing about genetics OR evolution. The Dunning-Kruger is strong in this one.https://twitter.com/ColorfuLaura/status/1025832832399233025 …

plus you leave out genetic immunity. Unless you don't believe in evolution. Vaccines disrupt that.

Genetic immunity is the reason only one human generation saw outbreaks of smallpox, diphtheria and measles, and subsequent generations didn’t have to worry. Oh, wait.

It's popular enough among french deniers. I think they talk about loss in highly pathogenic strains after they killed a majority of non immun people. Their favorite example is "medieval Black Plague that vanished without vaccination". Consequently, with vaccination 1/

we violate the normal (and "natural") course of co-evolutionary process by preventing emergence of resistant variants among people. IMO, that is a highly eugenic point: without the slightest shame, they reclaim the death of thousands if not millions 2/

I've heard similar before. Some of them think that they don't have to worry about such diseases because they are "genetically superior" to those who get sick. They think that those who get sick and die "deserve it". It's an overlap of antivaccine beliefs and eugenics.

It’s eugenics with the added bonus of preventable plagues killing lots of children.

Yep. @ColorfuLaura seems not to understand that evolution takes many generations. In the meantime, children suffer and die in large numbers.
