Pharmacists for Life International is a group which advocates for "conscience clauses" for pharmacists. Its president was fired by a US K-mart for lying to a customer about whether a medication she considers abortifacient was in stock. http://www.pfli.org

PFLI's Web site promulgates unscientific information about the effects of oral contraceptives, saying that they are abortifacient, among other whoppers.

Only if that chain wants to create a massive PR problem for themselves. Denying someone a prescription that THEIR doctor deemed as medically necessary and than refusing to return the prescription so they can fill it elsewhere should be a crime And pharmacists that do this better

I would ethically deny to fill meds for an execution. Luckily I live in a state w no capital punishment.
-
And if I won’t fill a legal, valid prescription for an opioid for a patient w pinpoint pupils & track marks, that might be ethical too (obvs would fill subutex or methadone).

Scripts are sent in electronically now so it’s not easy to take our business elsewhere. Plus, it should be up to the pharmacy to vet their employees for conflicts of interests and not leave it up to their customers to locate upper mgt while being shamed.

What bothers me is the assumption that legality reflects goodness when a legal regulatory framework is often whipped up in return for cash. Ethics are often a dodge. A false front. A pretext.

Unrelated (and honest) question: are all physicians expected to say yes MAiD requests that fall within guidelines? Is it unethical to say no?
