Sadly, @ASCO did nothing to stop the rise of #RightToTry until last year. By then it was far too little, too late. RTT was, by that time, unstoppable. The time to have opposed RTT was in early 2014, when the first states were passing RTT bills into law. 1/https://twitter.com/ASCO/status/1006875099868356608 …

I commented last year on how sadly late and out-of-touch
@ASCO had been. I hope ASCO can get its act together and do something useful to mitigate the harm of RTT, but its history makes me doubt it. 2/ https://respectfulinsolence.com/2017/04/24/congress-is-back-in-session-and-sneaking-the-cruel-sham-that-is-right-to-try-in-a-must-pass-bill-is-on-the-agenda/ …1 reply 0 retweets 0 likesShow this thread -
Back in 2014, when I was one of the few cancer doctors willing to speak out openly against
#RightToTry, advocates and legislators who realized what a con@GoldwaterInst was laying down were begging for clear messages from medical professional organizations to give them cover. 3/1 reply 2 retweets 0 likesShow this thread
At the time, @ASCO and other cancer and medical professional organizations remained silent because they were afraid of facing the buzzsaw of criticism for being "callous" that came with opposing #RightToTry. They failed our patients. 4/4
