I know this family personally. I grew up with the dad. I don't agree with their choices. But they were desperate. As are all parents dealing with this diagnosis. I hate that they were taken advantage of.

They spent >$200,000 on an unproven treatment. The docs in Monterrey took advantage of them the same way Stanislaw Burzynski has taken advantage of so many families of children with DIPG. These docs are even worse, because they don't even claim to try to publish their results.

I see so many people talking about clinics in Mexico in the glioblastoma support group I’m in. It’s not cheap. And I’m pretty sure it’s similar to this situation. It’s so sad how desperate people are taken in at a time when they are so vulnerable.

So both the standard and her alternative therapy failed her in the end, but only one gets selected by you for ostracization. Also she seemed to beat the two year average both ways. Only conclusion, cancer sucks!

Because only one scenario is actually supported by published evidence for its use. I'll give you a hint: it's not the alternative therapy. Dr. Gorski is correct in being critical of quack clinics fleecing vulnerable families.

Didn't you read the article? The treatment wasn't quack; it was "experimental."

Refusal to publish results = quack.

@MisterWu78@DrJenGunter@JakeEschen @rachelwatson89 500,000 die from cancer each year in the U.S. Almost all used CA-causing chemo/rad. Why isn't Gorki pissed about that. Die at the hands of "approved" quackery, no problem. Die using "unapproved" quackery - clubs and jackboots? Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
