I had a boyfriend (a doctor) who was the son of a Cardiothoracic surgeon and let me tell you his father was one of the least tolerable humans I have ever met. Why? Because he was solely focused on being insanely good at what he did. It left no room for niceties.

I have worked with a few CT surgeons nearing retirement that operated 1 or 2 days a week, but they no longer performed CABGs. Pleurodesis, pericardial window, lobectomy, etc. which are much less technically sophisticated, but still dangerously challenging for some, IMO.
