I predict that I will never be invited to speak at such a session in my entire career because what I do is not something that conference organizers consider important.https://twitter.com/PauloBergerot/status/1001861009408061440 …

I suspect this will be my one and only time speaking at ASCO - and on meeting tweeting of all topics!

Yeah, I still think that most medical organizations don't really "grok" social media. For one thing, most of them seem to think Twitter is the be-all and end-all of most social media. In reality, Twitter doesn't really give much bang for the buck, at least not in website traffic.

I think part of the appeal of Twitter is it’s quick and easy but definitely only a small percentage of the convo

I'll give you an example. I once got a link posted by someone with >1M Twitter followers. I only noticed a modest bump in my traffic, by maybe an extra 1,000 to 2,000 unique visits that day. Twitter is immediate, but not powerful in driving website traffic.

I know I get more of a bump in my website views from FB links or if I'm on the news vs twitter - but I don't have nearly the amount of traffic that you do

The biggest bumps in traffic I've ever gotten came from Facebook, not Twitter. It's not even close. Once, one FB page posting a link resulted in over 50,000 uniques in a day that only tapered off over a week.

I think for general public, FB more intuitive, less intimidating compared to twitter

      Yes, that's probably true.
