Yeah, I still think that most medical organizations don't really "grok" social media. For one thing, most of them seem to think Twitter is the be-all and end-all of most social media. In reality, Twitter doesn't really give much bang for the buck, at least not in website traffic.

I'll give you an example. I once got a link posted by someone with >1M Twitter followers. I only noticed a modest bump in my traffic, by maybe an extra 1,000 to 2,000 unique visits that day. Twitter is immediate, but not powerful in driving website traffic.
