It’s the same PRA, anyone can be racist and it’s a taught behavior.

Now I will say Irish back in the day were considered colored but people can’t claim it specifically towards one race because it fits their agendas.pic.twitter.com/fNuCgzwQS9

It doesn’t really persist that much as you claim & I would say I’ve been around a very diverse group of people at college. Roseanne is also a comedian and I don’t see people going after Kevin Hart for stuff he says, it’s double standards.

Seriously? You're going to argue that racist comparisons of African-Americans to apes "doesn't persist as much as you claim"? You would appear to be the one living a sheltered life.

I did grow up in the country but I go to a huge university and maybe we just aren’t as hateful as the older generation. Times do change and even if someone is racist it’s not my place to judge because they can’t always help it if they were taught that way.

So let me explore this a bit. Let's say a fellow white student referred to an African-American as an "ape" or compared him disparagingly to an ape? You're saying you wouldn't consider that racist?

I would say it’s more of making fun of and stereotyping but being racist has to do with hate and secluding then and thinking your better then them. And it also depends on how they used it, like a snide/rude behavior yes I would consider that racism.

Actually, there is pretty darned close to no context in which a white person describing an African-American person as an "ape" is not racist. If such a context exists, I am unaware of it. Certainly what you describe is not such a context.

People generalize & stereotype quite a bit but it doesn’t mean they hate that race, those are different from racism. People can see it racism but it doesn’t mean it is depending on how a person uses it. And why does it have to matter if that person is white? Anyone can be racist

And I’m not saying what she said is right, it is wrong to make fun of people. But if she has friends of other races, which I’m sure she does, and said it about a few people that she doesn’t seem to like that seems like a personal problem then a racist problem.

I'm sorry, but you seem to be going into contortions to deny the racism in Roseanne's Tweet. If there's one thing that age has taught me, it's that the racist rejoinder of "Some of my best friends are..." is a true statement of blindness to one's own bigotry.
