Not a lot of room for male-female interactions that might be merely friendly, funny, interesting or time-killing on this model. I suppose you mean something specific by 'checked out'? Is it a look? A way of speaking? Is all interaction at base sexual?

Not possible. Always held in a state of suspended sexual tension, in so much as what a man will fuck is basically dependant on opportunity. Every woman is fuckable to every man, after a period of sufficient sexual deprivation.

Perhaps. Possibility does not imply compulsion, however. People prevent themselves from acting on their desires - conscious and unconscious - all the time. Otherwise - carnage.

I suppose Oedipus perhaps proves your point. GSA is a major issue for closely related adults who meet as adults when not subject to the incest taboo: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_sexual_attraction …

Without the Westermarck effect, you are much more likely to find close relatives sufficiently attractive, which seems to back up the 'every woman is fuckable to every man' point.

It's just opportunity cost / time investment / impact / fall out dynamics. All subconsciously calculated.

Perhaps. Do you not find this a little bit bleak, though? Or merely 'how it is'. Is there no room for mere delight in conversation/company? Just epiphenomenal? It's true that beauty contains at its heart an ineradicable sadness which seems anti-adaptive. Are we not maladaptive?

I don't think an object level analysis of reality should be compromised because the conclusions are bleak. That's the "logic" of Progressivism. The good formalist accepts Reality > pretty little lies.

Oh I agree. I suppose I just like my analysis tempered with a bit of poetry I suppose. It's an aesthetic quibble. I am otherwise perfectly happy to accept any and all bleakness. Like, buy a girl a rose first!

Take the example of a woman who has consented to go out with a particular man for the first time. She knows very well the intentions which the man who is speaking to her cherishes regarding her. She knows also that it will be necessary sooner or later for her to make a decision.

that is, she does not want to see possibilities of temporal development which his conduct presents. She restricts this behavior to what is in the present; she does not wish to read in the phrases which he addresses to her anything other than their explicit meaning.
