    On June 20, 1994 my parents & I to 🇨🇦. We left Russia via Moscow. Here I am posing near the Kremlin on that trip 24 years ago & again last Oct while on a research visit. On this anniversary & every other day, I'm grateful to my parents for making the journey.

    Glad to see the stirring discussion about history of race & sports in Russia. For a literary compliment, I highly recommend Ismailov's novel The Underground; set on the Moscow metro, it's about the child of an African athlete & a Russian woman who met at 1980 Olympics.
