the issue has been there ever since the YouTube music app has been released. on all my devices. it just forgets that it's casting to a speaker. the music keeps running but controlling it from the phone no longer works.

Got it. Do you have a dual-band router? If yes, have you tried connecting your devices and Chromecast to both bands to see if the same thing happens? Also, do you have a Chromecast or a Chromecast Audio?

yeah I do. it mostly happened when casting to google home/home mini, I just used chromecasting as a general description
