    I've been on the receiving end of late night calls from Tory's office because the public is demanding something on social media. This goes down as pretty classic Mayor Tory decision making (and I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way...in this case).

    Within hours of posting this video from Phin Park says that effective tomorrow city crews will stop removing basketball nets; has also spoken with parks staff and says nets should be going up, not pulled down

    This guy. He says some people are dumping on Wente about plagiarism when secretly this just don't agree with her. Then, he invites her to write for Quillette. Presumably, for him, it's more important that he agrees with her than she was a plagiarist.

    Anyway, I wish Wente well. And if she's reading this, i'd remind her that is always looking for new writers ....

    My favourite Warmington columns are the barely-edited ones written in thrall to Ford Fest:

    “Doug. Doug, Doug,” yelled the crowd. Music to his ears no question. And coming in a week when his government has been under fire with both a major cabinet shuffle and the resignation of his chief of staff.
    There were a few people protesting autism funding in the parking lot and somebody rented a plane for a reported $8,000 carrying a banner that read: “Public education cannot afford Ford.” The problem was very few people or media even looked up to see it. And even those who did, the plane was so high it was hard to capture it on camera through the glare of the sun and the smoke from the half-dozen barbecues...
    Ford said: “We now so many new jobs, businesses don’t have enough workers to fill them.” Throughout the speech Ford looked relaxed and often laughed with the crowd.
