Dear : As you advertise the authenticity of Warhol's "five original drawings" on the NFT blockchain, I'm concerned that your collectors might be confused about what they're bidding on—since you're not auctioning the originals, which were created at 320x200.

I'm legit curious whether anyone at stopped to wonder how Warhol could make a 6000x4500-pixel image in 1985. Did they think, "that's odd"? or "27MP, wow, he was way ahead of his time"? or "whatever; collectors expect hi-res from blue-chip art"? or just "ZOMG NFT$$"

Here is a brief thread about large-run printed books with generative cover designs. (For the purposes of this repository, "generative" means each copy is unique, and "large run" means I'm not considering print-on-demand. Thanks to everyone who sent links.)

It should be clear that a 6000x4500 image in Amiga's uncompressed .PIC format could not possibly fit on a 1.4MB floppy, nor in the Amiga 1000's 512kb RAM. I'm not sure if your collectors care that they're bidding on a secondary by-product, but I would.

Cultural institutions, galleries and publishers constantly think that "high resolution" means "best-quality" or "original". This totally fails for low-resolution originals, such as the actual originals of the Warhol Amiga drawings, which were created at 320x200.

Amazing achievement. The magicians at have built a system to track the tip of a sword, and display it in real-time augmented reality (#AR), non-invasively (with no encumbrance or interference to the competitors), for e.g. Olympic fencing. #ExCap

The versions you're auctioning—with dimensions of 6000x4500—are altered, 2nd-generation near-copies. Specifically, these were upscaled from the originals by per the specific request of , because the Foundation explicitly wanted the artworks "in high resolution".

Dear tweeps: who are some amazing individuals (not collectives, this time) working on their own, small, open-source software-development tools for the arts? (Especially looking for persons from underrepresented backgrounds in software dev, but all recommendations welcome!)

But also: my focus in this particular work is dynamism and interactivity—i.e., the 'medium of response'—not 'colors and light'. To me, this makes it as 'born digital' as anything. The nod to paper helps tell a story, but is not the point.

For a class demo, I took a script written by ChatGPT, had WellSaid narrate it, and used that audio to puppeteer a Midjourney character using one-shot-talking-face. My entire family intervened and told me in no uncertain terms that it was the worst thing I've ever made.😳

Andy Warhol developed his artworks on an Amiga at 320x200 resolution, because that was the size of graphics framebuffers at the time.

Leaving aside the nature of NFTs for the moment (a hash of a signature of a transaction etc.), what would an original be? Warhol's digital art was saved in a pre-release version of an obsolete Amiga file format, PLBM. Is it OK to convert this to a more easily-readable PNG?

Wrestling (or fantasizing) about making geometric abstraction again. Hid that part of myself away for years. Art School dismisses it as "not critical" (cynically: not sanctioned agitprop). But I feel a commitment to form is hopeful, dammit, and a radical position in its own way.

RIP. Chuck Csuri — pioneer of computer art and professor at OSU — has passed away at age 99. Csuri was among the first dozen or so people to use a digital computer to make art; his work (including Sine Curve Man and Hummingbird, 1967) is archived at: csuriproject.osu.edu
